About our CSA Program

Definitions:

CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)- CSA members buy “shares” of our crops in advance. This helps provide the farmer with income in the shoulder months when there are few or no retail opportunities. This investment is incredibly important, as many farms spend the most money in the off-season, purchasing seeds and infrastructure. As a crop share, fulfillment may not be the same every week, it is fully dependent on the available flowers at that time.

Season - We are an entirely field-grown operation, which makes our growing season climate-dependent. Typically our season runs from the end of April to the end of October. As a full-season member, you will receive flowers from each growing session, Spring, Summer, Sunflowers, and Fall.

Session- Our season is broken into growing sessions, Spring, Summer, Sunflower, and Fall. Sessions can be purchased independently, or sampled as part of a full season or sampler membership.

As CSA members, you are getting the best flowers every week. I will assess whether the week will be a hand-wrapped bouquet or a jar arrangement.  This is based on what is in bloom and how I think the flowers are best displayed. You receive the same amount of stems either way.  I will let you know in advance what the week’s arrangements will be.
On weeks with wrapped bouquets, delivery members should put out a clean jar, large vase, or bucket that is out of direct sunlight for me to leave your flowers in.  Please let me know where you would like your flowers delivered to specifically if it’s not the front porch/door.

Pickup Options:

We will be offering free shipping to the following locations:

  • Forest Ridge Farmstead- 2789 Brickyard Road, Warners

  • Three’s Company Brow and Beauty- Liverpool

  • The Communion Wine and Spirits - Downtown SYR

We hope to add more pickup locations before the season begins.  If you select shipping at checkout and a location opens up near you, I will refund the shipping paid.
For members picking up on the farm or at a designated pickup location, your wrapped bouquets will be fine out of water for a short period while you return home.

  • Should you forget to pick up your flowers on a given week, they will be held for 2 days before they are disposed of. The staff onsite at our pickup locations cannot assist you with your subscription, you must contact us here at FRF.

NEW FOR 2024- Delivery

To streamline the delivery process, I am offering an incentive to anyone willing to consolidate delivery drop-off locations with your neighbors, friends, and family.

  • If 2 subscriptions are delivered to the same location, you are only charged one delivery fee (must be ordered at the same time).

  • If you have 3 shares delivered to the same address, I will provide a code for free shipping for everyone.

  • If you can consolidate 5 or more shares to be delivered at a single location, I will offer free delivery and a 15% discount code for everyone.

Please get in touch with us if you can consolidate shipping before you order and I will provide the appropriate codes/discounts/ instructions.

• Full Season or full-session members will receive flowers weekly. I intend that these will be consecutive weeks but it is not unheard of for Mother Nature to intervene.  We may have to skip a week due to flower conditions or availability.  The skipped week will be rolled to the end of the session.  You will always receive the number of bouquets committed in the session.
• Bi-weekly members will receive flowers every other week.  See above re: skips/ number of bouquets.  If we miss your week, you will receive flowers the following week and the week after (2 consecutive weeks) before reverting to every other week.
• Full season and 3/4 season members can skip up 2 deliveries to accommodate vacations, travel, etc...  Please provide me written notice (email preferred) if you know of a week(s) when you will not be able to take your flowers.  These bouquets will be added to the end of the season, or you can double up a week to make up for the skip.
• Full session, bi-weekly members can skip one delivery per session.  Please provide written notice (email preferred) if you know of a week when you will not be able to take your flowers.  Bi-weekly members will receive consecutive bouquets as mentioned above, full session members will have their skipped week added to the end of the session.
• Sampler members: This is a 5 or 10 bouquet share, intended to explore every session we offer (Spring, Summer, Sunflowers, and Fall).  There is more flexibility and no skips at this membership level.  If you cannot receive flowers in the week I have you in, just let me know what week during that session works better for you.

Once the schedule is released, if you have a conflict with your proposed week please let me know ASAP. You will only receive an email from me the weeks you are receiving flowers (or our normal marketing messages). Also, feel free to reach out if you have any questions regarding your membership or delivery options.

There is a 4+ week break between the end of our Spring session and when our Summer session begins. I will communicate the start date of our Summer session in early July.

Thank you sincerely for supporting our farm through the CSA program.  It allows us to continue with our vision of bringing fresh, chemical-free flowers to our community here in CNY.  My wish is that these flowers bring you a fraction of the joy they bring me. We are so grateful for your support.  Make sure you follow us on FB and IG for regular behind-the-scenes info on what goes into making the magic of flowers become a reality.

Also, thank you for supporting the American Grown flower movement.  American-grown flowers make up less than 20% of the cut flowers utilized by florists and designers yearly here in the US.  Most imported flowers are sprayed heavily with pesticides and preservatives for “perfection” and farm workers are paid extremely low wages.  Many imported flowers travel over 2 weeks to get to the florist before they are in the hands of the customer. American-grown flowers are fresher, tend to see fewer chemicals, and most people who are involved with the paid a living wage.
